Childhood Memories

Take a moment and think: what was the one thing that set you apart as a child?  What was the thing that allowed you to be a part of the "in" crowd?

For me--that's easy. Three words: American Girl doll.

I grew up with three sisters.  We did everything together--played dress-ups, made mud pies, and even spilled melted popsicle down the front of our t-shirts in the summer.  But then there was the day that my older sister got the coolest present ever.  Yeah you know what I'm talking about.  But in my family, my parents didn't give us an American Girl doll until we were eight years old.

Therefore a "rite of passage" from childhood to complete womanhood.

My American Girl doll wasn't just like any other doll.  She was my best friend.  She came with every accessory in the book.  She had an outfit for every outing, party, and activity.  Beds, dressers, picnic tables, campfires, chalkboards--you name it, my doll had it.  I even had a dog with real shampoo for my doll! I loved playing with my American Girl doll with my sisters.  It made me feel a part of something big--something important.  One of our favorite things to do on a long Sunday afternoon was pull out all of our doll clothes and accessories, and set up a little town in our living room/dining room.  Those were the days...
