I brought a total of seven shirts
to Jerusalem. Big mistake. I have to
do laundry every week. A couple of days
before we left for Jordan, I headed down to the laundry room, separated my
whites and threw every thing else in the washer, turned on the water and headed
back to my room. Half an hour later, I
reluctantly made the trek back down to that long halfway to switch my clothes
to the dryer. I opened up the washer and
found of load of pink clothes. Like
pink, pink clothes. I had forgotten to
wash my new Coca-Cola shirt that I bought in the Old City separately from everything else. You can imagine my reaction; all of my seven shirts--the ONLY shirts I had to wear--were now all pink. I know this is a funny story, but I definitely learned an importnat lesson out of it:
Come what may, and love it.
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin gave a Conference Talk about this a couple of years ago and he suggested four things we can do to better a hard situation.
1. Learn to laugh
2. Seek for the Eternal
3. Understand the Principle of Compensation
4. Trust in the Lord
Ultimately, this is the advice Elder Wirthlin gives:
"Put your trust in the Lord, and do your best, and leave the rest to Him."
