I've always been a big Disney fan.
Ask my mom--when I was little, I would watch Cinderella at least twice a day. I had that movie memorized and I was convinced that I could and definitely should be Cinderella. I remember the first time i went to Disneyland--I was probably 6 or 7 and I thought it was truly the Happiest Place on Earth. I of course got really shy when I met my idol Cinderella, but she was so sweet and exactly how she was in the movie. Disneyland was so magical.
Don't you remember the first time you went to Disneyland? It was the most amazing thing, wasn't it? Not only were the rides awesome and completely thrilling, the taste of the fresh churos, the smell of cotton candy, the huge parades and light shows, and of course the super long lines and you could care less about when you were 6.
The fear of getting wet on Splash Mountain, the thrill of Indian Jones, getting over your fear of the dark in Space Mountain, and getting absolutely sick on the Tea Cups. Oh the memories.
Everything was perfect at Disneyland.
I finally convinced my friends my Senior year of high school to watch Disney's Cinderella one weekend night, and although it wasn't as magical as it was 15 years ago, memories came flooding back when I remembered how much I loved this movie. I think I was the only one watching the movie though--all of my friends were watching me and my reaction to the movie the whole time...
If this movie doesn't make you remember what it was like to be young and in love with Disneyland, then I don't know what will:
Maybe I just love this video so much because I remember when my parents also surprised my sisters and me with a trip to Disneyland. We packed our bags, drove to the airport, and headed for "Somewhere Fun" (well that's what my dad wrote on the luggage tags...) for Spring Break. That was definitely the best surprise I can remember!! (ok well just one of them--I've had a lot of awesome surprises in my life...). Needless to say, I can't wait to go to Disneyworld this summer!!
Agreed - so much fun! I can't wait to take my kids there someday! Nate and I were just talking about this the other day - what is the perfect age to go to Disneyland for the first time? When is it most magical?
ReplyDeleteShan-where do you find this stuff? You made me cry! Thant's EXACTLY how you reacted when we pulled up to the front gates of Disneyland and you found out where we were!! Those are the best memories--maybe you will need a really cool grandma (hint, hint) to come with you when you take your youngin's to the happiest place on earth!!! --Mom
